To be honest, the Western world doesn't usually pay a whole lot of attention to foreign cinema with out-of-sync-looking voice dubbing or pesky subtitles (you can't browse your phone or multi-task when your eyes must be on the screen), but occasionally a film is released that looks so promising that even subtitles aren't a barrier for mainstream audiences.
I think one of those films is the upcoming 2017 Russian neo-noir superhero movie Guardians (Защитники Zaschitniki in the native tongue).

What's it About?
Set during the Cold War, a secret organization named "Patriot" gathered a group of Soviet superheroes, altering and augmenting the DNA of four individuals, in order to defend the homeland from supernatural threats.
The group includes representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union, which each one of them have long been hiding their true identity. In hard times, they settled down to business and gather to defend their homeland.
Check out the epic trailer below. The scope of destruction looks Hollywood-blockbuster-budget level and if you've been reading a while, you know that just like you I'm all about that. But it wasn't! The film cost a mere $5 million US. If what it looks like this movie will be is how far $5 million goes in Russia, why aren't all movies produced there, ya know?

And check out this dude, Arsus (Anton Pampushnyy)!
It's like, Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy is you at level one, and Arsus from Guardians is you at level 100. Amiright?
Marvel's Avengers multi-franchise and DC's just amping up Justice League multi-franchise may very well have some competition. And I'm all about that.
I'm super interested in seeing how this one turns out. How about you?
