When fandoms collide.
Cumberbitches and Hiddlestoners get excited. All your shipping dreams are coming true.
Rumours are swirling around the internet that a certain British stud, Tom Hiddleston, known most for his brilliant portrayal of the decidedly villainous Loki in the Avengers franchise may be joining the other big British stud, Benedict Cumberbatch, in season 4 of his hit London detective show, Sherlock.
Fans be going off like:

BUT.
At the moment, these are only rumours potentially thought up by an internet troll who has read some Cumbleston slash fiction and thought it would be fun to stir the fans into a frenzy for shits and giggles. There is no mention on Tom's IMDB page as yet of his inclusion, nor an official word on the matter, but that doesn't mean anything just yet, right? Maybe no one's gotten around to it. I don't know how these things work.
Who Would He Play?
Whoever devised this true/false (but either way, amazing) rumour claims that co-creators of the TV show, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss (who plays Sherlock’s brother Mycroft), are interested in casting Hiddleston as Sherlock's other brother, Sherrinford. Another highly-intelligent Holmes! Hiddleston would be perfect for that, don't you think? I can see the banter, the eye rolling and looks of disdain already.
It will be interesting to see if the rumour is just that, a rumour, but it could well make a lightbulb switch on over Moffat and Gatiss' heads about what a good idea that would be. Hiddleston is in high demand. However, with a busy filming schedule, Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (Watson) are bonafide movie stars in their own right and the show accommodates their schedules, even with years between seasons sometimes. It could be possible; is what I'm saying.
Season four is due for release in 2017 (only one year since Abominable Bride!) so until then, we shall wait impatiently, yelling into the void for answers.
