The first trailer - more of a scene, really - for Netflix's revival, The Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, has hit the interwebs and just as we can expect from show creator and writer Amy Sherman-Palladino, it's rather delightful.
Though showing nothing of consequence, not a plot secret to be found here, Rory and her BFF/mother, Lorelai, are sitting at their kitchen table shooting the breeze, talking current pop culture, as if they have been doing so ever since they left our TVs nine whole years ago.
Not only is this enough to bring back whimsical feelings of how much fans loved this show, the official Gilmore Girls Instagram dropped what could be an innocuous picture of the kitchen table strewn with newspapers, a coffee cup, pop tarts and an apple, but one of those items in particular, when teamed with the image's caption, has caused all sorts of freak outs and fandemonium.
Observe.
Observe.
An apple? What about it? Does that actually mean something?
Yes, my friends. YES. IT. DOES.
Entertainment Weekly breaks it down:

Entertainment Weekly breaks it down:
As Gilmore fans know, the mother-daughter duo’s diet is famously unhealthy, so any fruit or vegetable would be a strange addition to their plate. But the apple in particular has special meaning in the Gilmore canon. Back in the fifth season’s episode called “Blame Booze and Melville,” Lorelai suspects she might be pregnant with Luke’s baby when she finds herself eating an apple – and enjoying it. She tells Rory this only happened to her once before: the first time she was pregnant. Later in the episode, Lorelai discovers she isn’t pregnant, but the apple remained an infamous object in the Gilmore lore.
Oh my God you guys. But which one is up the duff? Are Lorelai and Luke having a baby? Or is Rory the one eating apples (and LIKING IT)? But who is the father? An old beau we all love or someone brand spanking new?
