With the last movie released five years ago and final book almost ten years ago, one would think the world of Harry Potter, wizards, death eaters and muggles was just a pleasant memory, a part of pop culture history from the noughties.
But no.
Harry Potter has never really been far from anyone's minds, and with theme parks, West End plays, new stories and movies, a potential TV series and IRL Quidditch teams, it seems like the Harry Potter engine is well and truly revved up again and taking off.
Let's see what we got:

JK Rowling Releases Early Hand-drawn Sketches on Pottermore

— The Rowling Library (@rowlinglibrary) August 23, 2016
On Pottermore and Twitter, J.K. Rowling and team recently released some early sketches Rowling drew whilst writing the original books, giving insight into how she pictured the characters herself, as well as uncovering another talent of a very talented woman. I'm kinda glad the onscreen wizards don't wear the hats as much as they do in her sketches, to be honest.
Three New wizarding world short stories - only weeks away!
From the Cursed Child Parts 1 & 2 West End play and published scripts to new short stories, there is plenty of new content being developed for everyone's favourite wizarding world.
Releasing on 6 September come Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide, Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists, and Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies, each exploring a different Hogwarts-related theme.
The Pottermore website says:
Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide dives into the nooks and crannies of the beloved wizarding school itself, unfurling everything from details about the Hogwarts ghosts, to what happens when the Sorting Hat can’t decide on a student’s house.
Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists explores the darker roots of the wizarding world. You’ll learn more about the troubles that faced the Ministry of Magic, the horrors of Azkaban prison and enjoy an entirely new original piece of writing by J.K. Rowling on Horace Slughorn.
Finally, in Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies, Pottermore celebrates the colourful staff of Hogwarts. There’s more to discover about Care of Magical Creatures teacher Silvanus Kettleburn, as well as another new piece of writing from J.K. Rowling on Minerva McGonagall, and her involvement in the second wizarding war.
Though only being released as eBooks, if you don't have a dedicated eReader, fear not! You can download one of several free apps, such as Kindle (for eBooks purchased from Amazon) or Adobe Reader so that you can read on your smartphone, tablet, or even computer screen.

NBCUniversal Purchases TV & Digital rights
Five years on from the release of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the world's thirst for all things Harry Potter is as insatiable as ever, and NBCUniversal has taken notice. The company has inked a deal for the TV and digital rights to produce Harry Potter for TV, plus the rights to air the film franchise on cable. This deal runs from 2018-2025, so come 2018 we could very well see a Harry Potter TV show in the works, giving them the ability to delve more deeply into aspects of the books that the films simply didn't have time to cover.
Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them is Getting Closer!
As the days and weeks of 2016 whiz by it is bringing us closer and closer to the release of the newest addition to the Harry Potter franchsie, the first movie in the Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them trilogy. I'm pretty stoked for this one. Releasing worldwide on November 18, 2016, Fantastic Beasts follows Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) who must track down an array of magical creatures in 1926 New York. A second trailer was released at Comic Con in July; check it out below if you missed it.
Loosely based on one of two short manuals from the Harry Potter world Rowling released for Comic Relief in the early 2000s, with the world's fervent interest in all things wizarding world, I predict in coming years there will also be a Quidditch Through the Ages movie series. Can you imagine an inspirational sports movie about an underdog Quidditch team and their journey toward the Quidditch World Cup? I'm booking my ticket now. If you find yourself in Columbia, South Carolina mid-April 2017, you could attend the US World Quidditch Cup yourself! Though there are no wizards on teams (that I know of). It's muggles only.
So what do you think? Have you pre-ordered your copies of the ebooks? Do you like Rowling's original sketches? Would you be interested in a Harry Potter TV series? Are you counting down the days for Fantastic Beasts? Are you an elite Quidditch player? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS, FELLOW POTTER-HEADS.
