Just as Harry Potter fans enjoy a good Butter Beer, Pumpkin Juice, and Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans in real life, World of Warcraft (otherwise known as WoW) fans are in for a real treat. No, not a treat, a full meal, and several of them.
This is the year World of Warcraft hits the mainstream, as not only is the live-action Hollywood epic-fantasy film, Warcraft, hitting theatres June 19 and the latest expansion of the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), Legion, dropping for PC on August 30, but come October 18, fans will be able to whip up fantastical medieval delicacies in their own homes thanks to the publication of World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel.

According to the publisher’s website, the cooking companion is filled with delicacies for every taste and culinary skillset: “whether you're an apprentice cook or a master chef, a plant-loving druid or an orc hankering after Beer Basted Boar Ribs, this tome of exquisite delicacies also includes a few tasty recipes for brew, including Greatfather's Winter Ale, Junglevine Wine, and Winter Veil Egg Nog.” The book will hit stores and online retailers just in time for the Bluray and on-demand release of the film so that you can feast on home-made honey-spiced lichen washed down with a good dose of Junglevine Wine.
Mmm. Leaves with dirt and honey.
In a time when PC has been well and truly overshadowed by X-Box and Playstation as the preferred consoles for serious gaming, World of Warcraft is a PC massive multiplayer game which has opened new accounts for over 100 million subscribers since its first iteration in 1994. That's a lot of characters roaming around. In the fantasy game, according to the official website copy you will join "thousands of mighty heroes in an online world of myth, magic, and limitless adventure. Explore jagged, snowy peaks; vast mountain fortresses; and harsh, winding canyons. Witness zeppelins flying over smoldering battlefields; battle in epic sieges - a host of legendary experiences await."
Though player numbers have slowly been declining over the years, 2016’s major motion picture, Warcraft, the latest expansion, Legion, and of course, World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook, is bound to cause a resurgence of interest from former players and those freshly introduced to the world of... well... warcraft.
The major motion picture, on the same sweeping scale as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, is in cinemas June 19.
