The Happiest Wookie in All the Land: Hilarious Viral Unboxing Video

Mom, Candace Payne, bought not her kids but herself  (she's very clear on this) a toy at Kohl's yesterday and was so keen to show her friends on Facebook her new purchase that she created, what I think to be, the best unofficial unboxing video of all time.

Payne purchased a Star Wars Electronic Chewbacca Mask which, as she delightedly demonstrates, when you open your mouth, the mask lets out a series of different wookie sounds.

Though using the Facebook Live function purely for her own friends and family's viewing, the pure joy in her new purchase and her contagious belly laughs have made the video go viral, the original with over 70 million views in its first twenty-four hours alone.

Her natural enthusiasm builds your anticipation and her reaction to her purchase makes the mask's unveiling well and truly worth the (short) wait.

If Moms Talked to Each Other the Way They Talk to Their Kids

Happy Mother's Day!

Here's one for all the parents and friends of parents out there!

These mums who make up the comedy group BreakWomb have a great sense of humour about the way they talk to their kids. If you're not already in a stage of life wherein your friends are starting to pop out babies (or you, yourself are doing it) then either fear not or fear a lot: it's coming soon. And so is this kind of conversation.
Other videos the BreakWombs have made include "If Moms Ate Like Their Kids" and "If Moms Reacted Like Their Kids". Oooh boy.

Be honest, mums and dads. Have you talked to your kids like this today? Hehe. Awesome.

Usually a passive pastime of quiet contemplation or friendly bonding, there's nothing like the sudden change of luck and the rush of excitement that can come at any time when there's a tug on the line.

But sometimes you get more than you bargained for. Could it be dinner on the other end of the line? Or could, perhaps... you  be dinner?

Here for your shock and enjoyment are a couple of fishermen whose leisurely day on the water took sudden, dramatic turns. Holy cow.
Have you ever been fishing and caught something surprising?

Watch This When Life is Too Hard

Let's face it, life can be hard sometimes. No matter what they are, how big or small, when you're living through them your problems are real and uncomfortable, stressful and painful. They can take up all the space in your body, filling it up, setting up residence in your brain so that you can hardly remember when things were better, easier. When you were last relaxed and happy. When you're in the middle of difficult times that are engulfing you whole, it can be hard to know how to pick yourself up again, can't it.

Well, looking at yourself, and your humongous problems with a different perspective can help them to feel smaller and more manageable.

This Construction Worker Nearly Had a Very, Very Bad Day

In the month of the fire's second anniversary, footage has been making the rounds of the internet from March, 2014, when a construction worker was rescued from a giant blaze in Houston, Texas, in what is one of the closest calls I've ever seen.
The amateur footage, filmed by an aghast Karen Jones in a building across the street, shows a man trapped on a top-floor balcony of what looks to be the work-in-progress of a soon-to-be apartment complex.
Thankfully, a fire crew spotted the lone man on the semi-built balcony and came to his aid with a crane just as it was being thoroughly destroyed by fire.

The man seemed incredibly calm under the circumstances, until the fire reached the interior room just inside and it appears the heat became too intense. It's incredible that the incomplete balcony he jumped onto held. He sure was lucky.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, but you sure think you're going to see something else when watching, don't you!

Yikes.

Never Give Up On Your Dreams. Ever.

This wonderful mother's day commercial from P&G is worth bringing out of the vault. Its aim is to celebrate mums, and how they help their children every time they fall, and it does that, but to me the message is so much bigger.

Watching these children learning to walk, learning to skate and falling, and crying, and getting disheartened because they'll never be any good, but persevering anyway before, eventually, achieving thier dreams at the Olympics hit me right in the feels.

Because when you're trying something new, no matter how young or old you are or how important it is to you, failure makes it so easy to give up.

But all those years of effort, of trying, after all the little successes and all you've learned are wasted if you do. And if you give up, you guarantee that you will never win. But if you persevere, you won't guarantee that you will win, but your odds are 100% better.

Every time you fall, every time you fail, you learn something and get better.

Don't give up on your dreams, Tragics. However huge and impossible they may seem. You'll never achieve them if you do.

6 Job Interview Tips for Introverts

An excellent resume, an impressive cover letter and experience that meets every key selection criteria will help you schedule the all-important interview, but having all the skills and experience to ace the actual job won’t help you if you can’t demonstrate how, and why, you are the perfect candidate in the interview.

Extroverts are generally more comfortable with new people, such as those interviewing them, and they can exude confidence in extolling their virtues, talking themselves up, and demonstrating , not only how their work history is a fit for the position, but how their personality will fit within the company culture as well.

This is where introverts and more reserved types – or those with the necessary skills but lack of confidence – can be at a disadvantage.

According to Carl Jung, the introverted personality type not only means that introverts find energy from turning inward (as opposed to extroverts who feel energised through social interaction), they are often commonly characterised by being quiet, reserved – particularly around unfamiliar people or large groups – self-reflective, self-critical, and tend to keep their emotions private. These are traits that can help them excel in their work, but none of which are helpful traits for job interviews.

All my fine-haired ladies out there, are you like me and have coveted a thick fringe (or bangs, for our North American readers) but have never been able to achieve the look because your hair is too wispy and fine? Do you find that no matter how far back on the crown of your head you start it from, there's just not enough fullness to give you the fringe you dream of?

And our curly-haired counterparts, are you out there wanting to try a fringe but not wanting the commitment (in case it all goes wrong?)

I feel you. I so feel you.

But guess what! With just a couple of dollars investment on eBay, I now have a straight, full fringe whenever I want it - and no endless blow drying or curling and frizzing up by the end of the day!

Let me show you my secret:
